Worker bees are sterile females that are responsible for collecting nectar and pollen, caring for the brood, and maintaining the hive. Queen bees are larger and are responsible for laying eggs to produce new bees.
For beginners, we recommend starting with a Langstroth hive. These hives are easy to manage and widely used in the beekeeping industry. If you decide you may also purchase a Flow Hive. Each has it's benefits and detractions
You should inspect your hives every 7-10 days during the active beekeeping season. This will allow you to monitor the health of your hives and prevent any potential issues. As you get more experienced and get more hives you can defer inspections based on need.
